Who May Dwell in Your Holy Hill?

Psalm 15:1-2

LORD, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill? He who walks uprightly, and works righteousness, and speaks the truth in his heart. …

Listen to the "Verse by Verse" episode covering this scripture.

David asks and answers the question of who may approach the holy God and whom God will accept into His eternal Kingdom. As we saw in Psalm 14, all have sinned and none are completely righteous. Thankfully Jesus Christ’s sacrifice allows for us to be forgiven for past sins and to commit to following Christ’s example of righteous living.

David’s list of right actions summarize many of the laws of the Old Testament and the Christian principles repeated in the New Testament.

The whole psalm is instructive, so we reprint the rest of it here:

“He who does not backbite with his tongue, nor does evil to his neighbor, nor does he take up a reproach against his friend; in whose eyes a vile person is despised, but he honors those who fear the LORD; he who swears to his own hurt and does not change; he who does not put out his money at usury, nor does he take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved” (Psalm 15:3-5).
